The Wind That Brings The Snow

Their hill walk began

One late November's day

Children

With their whole lives still to be

Their whole lives still to be

They walked and laughed

Until the white walls they closed in

And they knew that they were lost

And there in that raging night

So very far from home

The wind blew

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on

Blows on

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on and on

On and on

In the white darkness

They could find no shelter from the storm

So in the mountain's arms

They huddled against the cold

Huddled against the cold

And as the light died

Embraced by the freezing hurt

Their warmth slowly ebbed away

And there in that endless night

So very far from home

The wind blew

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on

Blows on

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on and on

It blows on and on

On and on

So the days passed

Until the chopper saw them there

The Children were found

But too late for the lost

It was too late for the lost

And as the winchman turned

He saw the face of a so young girl

Eyes wide on other worlds

And there in that silent dawn

So very far from home

The wind blew

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on

Blows on

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on

Blows on

And the wind that brings the snow

Blows on and on

It blows on and on

It blows on and on

on and on

Road to Silence

He came back from another war

Tried to make his own way

Came home from guns and drones

Found no job no pay

He came back from a realm of death

Into a world of deceit

Came home from a combat zone

Found himself on the streets

No place to sleep

He's still out there, somewhere

Amongst the violence

He's still out there, no one cares

He' s on a road to silence

He came back with a heroes' crown

Made hollow by turned blind eyes

Came home to a paper throne

Betrayed by a thousand lies

He came back to a broken dream

They'd forgotten what the fighting was for

Came home to be disowned

They keep their eyes on the floor

He doesn't matter any more

He's still out there, somewhere

Amongst the violence

He's still out there, no one cares

He's on a road to silence

Back there whilst out on Recon

He lost his friends to an enemy Can Bomb

Returned to base with only bones and dust

A drowning mind and a fallen trust

He's still out there, somewhere

Amongst the violence

He's still out there, no one cares

He's on a road to silence

He's still out there, somewhere.........

on a road to silence
